BELOVED MNEMOSYNE - Video-poem: In 1996, when I was concluding my final undergraduate project at UnB, I organized an expedition to Serra da Mesa. I invited Larissa Malty, Bismarque Villa Real and Elyeser Szturm to go with me. I borrowed the video equipment from CPCE/UnB, and invited Toninho Alves to record the trip. 1.784Km2 of live cerrado were being flooded to build a hydroelectric dam, in spite of  91 archaeological sites that had been found, in spite of this being a reserved indigenous land of Ava Canoeiro, and without consideration of the 1,200 families that had to leave their lands. 10 years later, I tried to found out what was going on there besides the noisy jet-skis. Another dam was being build, the UHE Peixe Angical, and many other archaeological sites were being flooded. Many hydroelectric dams are being built at the Tocantins River. Rui Faquini photographed inscriptions on stones at Peixe Angical. I wrote the article “Sítios Arqueológicos de Peixe Angical e Serra da Mesa: Menomsine submersa ou afogada? in Terra Brasilis: pré-história e arqueologia da psique, SP: Paulus, 2006, and presented it at XIX Moitará in Campos do Jordão-SP. See the English version of the article in Mnemosyne Submerged or Drowned? In 2008, I was invited to the conference “"Contemporary Symbols of Personal, Cultural and National Identity: Historical and Psychological Perspectives”, in Zurich, Switzerland, an event organized by IAAP, IAJP and ETH. I received support from the Brazilian Ministry of Culture. With the images from 1996 and the photo of Pedra do Cruzeiro, I selected phrases from Guimarães Rosa and inspirations from Carl G. Jung and post-Jungians to edit the images. I invited Liloye Boubli and, together with Rodrigo Benevello, the edition resulted in a 7 minute-long video with music by Claudio Vinicius. The English subtitles were translated by Jill Haring. I finally arrived at a conclusion about this subject and offered the talk “Diving at the Sweet Waters of Memory: strategic to preserve flooded archaeological sites”, where I discuss the whole problematic of our Amerindian memory being flooded by hydroelectric dams. I did this through the mythological lens of archetypal psychology, where memory is personified in a goddess, Mnemosyne. The video-poem Beloved Mnemosyne is not yet totally finished. My deep thanks to all who collaborated and will collaborate to its finalization. The whole team worked as volunteers. Please, receive my gratitude!

With love,

Luciana Aires Mesquita.

June, 24th 2007 - Special Night - Tamboro at Mitoludens

Tamboro was Sergio Bernardes last movie and his masterpiece. In a native Amazon language it means " You are all welcome". Tamboro was exhibited at Mitoludens in the evening of June 24th 2007 to a selected audience of eigthy guests. The movie pictures the paramount play of gods and goddesses inhabiting the people and nature of Brazil. It is an apocalytical dance unveiling the global change to come. It is the Mahabharata of our times where Bernardes is the modern Arjuna who goes to battle to preserve the Brazilian inocence and beauty. His only weapon was images -- images that will not leave our soul . The movie has not yet reached the circle of movie theatres. If beauty is the key Tamboro should get all prizes. Bernardes survives us all. See how this movie has impacted the people who have seen it  at
